Microsoft Exchange Hosted Archive (EHA) service is an advanced message archiving and compliance system for email messages. Unlike traditional archiving methods that require hardware, software, and an IT staff to manage the system, EHA delivers message archiving as a service, without the additional hardware and software expenses. Because EHA is a service-based solution, it transfers the burden of application support to Microsoft rather than to your IT staff, which can result in lower costs to your organization and better use of your IT resources.
ForeFront Archiving Specifics
With both Microsoft® Forefront® Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) and Exchange Hosted Archive subscriptions in place, the online repository benefits from edge-based spam and virus protection features. FOPE receives messages via a domain name system mail exchanger (DNS MX) record redirect and, after filtering, delivers messages to the corporate mail server. Copies are made and stored in a security-enhanced online message repository. Filtering email before it is archived can help your organization preserve business email messages without spam and virus-infected messages.
