Pass Throughs
If Connection Manager blocks a sending IP address as a source of spam or directory harvest attacks, you can set a Manual IP Pass Through. Individual messages from the sender will still be filtered for spam and viruses, but valid messages will pass through Connection Manager blocks.
A Pass Through is different from an Approved Sender, and the two do not overlap. An Approved Sender is listed by domain, and allows messages to bypass spam and virus filtering. A Pass Through is an IP address, and allows messages to bypass Connection Manager blocking.
Use a Manual IP Pass Through if all mail from an valid sender is being blocked. This sometimes happens because of a third-party mailing list or because another domain is forwarding mail to you.
To set up a Manual IP Pass Through:
- Click the Inbound Servers tab.
- On the Connection Manager page, click the "Block an IP" link.
- Name your manual blocking rule and fill in the IP address or range of the servers to allow through.
- Under "Action to Take", select Pass Through.
- Set a desired Expiration time in days. If you don't want the rule to expire, set Expiration to 9000.
- Click Submit.
