Pass Throughs

If Connection Manager blocks a sending IP address as a source of spam or directory harvest attacks, you can set a Manual IP Pass Through. Individual messages from the sender will still be filtered for spam and viruses, but valid messages will pass through Connection Manager blocks.

A Pass Through is different from an Approved Sender, and the two do not overlap. An Approved Sender is listed by domain, and allows messages to bypass spam and virus filtering. A Pass Through is an IP address, and allows messages to bypass Connection Manager blocking.

Use a Manual IP Pass Through if all mail from an valid sender is being blocked. This sometimes happens because of a third-party mailing list or because another domain is forwarding mail to you.

To set up a Manual IP Pass Through:

  1. On the Connection Manager page, click the "Block an IP" link.

  2. Name your manual blocking rule and fill in the IP address or range of the servers to allow through.

  3. Under "Action to Take", select Pass Through.

  4. Set a desired Expiration time in days. If you don't want the rule to expire, set Expiration to 9000.

  5. Click Submit.
